What is FigJam?

FigJam is an online whiteboard that enables teams to brainstorm together.

Brainstorm
Ideate, share, discover. Build and riff on ideas together. Communicate more ideas with sticky notes. Dot vote, stamp, emote, draw, or chat to react with soul. Sketch ideas and connect the dots. Use markers, shapes, and connecters to organize your thoughts and show how they work together.

Diagram
Map user flows, processes, and systems. Ready to flow with shapes and arrows. Document journeys and systems with out-of-the box shapes and connectors that snap to the grid. Described by the vendor as easy to learn and intuitive to use, FigJam aims to keep teams flowing and jamming.

FigJam lives side-by-side with the vendor's flagship Figma product (or it is available standalone), so all design work, from ideation to execution, can be found in one place. And, teammates can leverage design libraries in FigJam to create artifacts that are consistent and on-brand.

FigJam is available for free while in beta (2021), and, according to the vendor, will be available in 2022 on paid subscriptions with advanced features, and also still on a free plan.

Being part f an all remote team, we are often looking for collaboration tools such as Fig Jam. recently we began trying Figma for design and prototyping. Figjam we though would work better with Figma so we began to use it. We have used it for ideation, team collaboration and different presentations.
  • Whiteboarding
  • Live Collaboration
  • Quick Iterations
  • Less Rigidity
  • Ability to work with Different Documents
  • A light version of Figma
Figjam is well suited for Collaboration within teams as well as with stakeholders. We have used Figjam to ideate and create a team structure and guidelines. It works especially well for a remote team that needs a real time live collaboration tool. There are some limits at the moment on what they support. For example there is a similar collaboration tool that allow one to use google docs and be able to edit right from the collaboration tool. Features like these help keep it ahead of curve. I am sure Figjam is working on adding support.
  • Figma Support
  • Real Time Collaboration
  • Presentation Capabilities
  • Allowed for Collaboration
  • Increase team time
  • Figma Document Presentation
I feel like Figjam is great at at what it does. It provides a great overall place to be able to use a virtual whiteboard and help teams collaborate. Especially remote teams. It actually does it better than others. There are some tools such as InVision Freehand that at the moment support more tools that can be intergrated within the actual document. This is especially useful when working in an all remote team and it helps keep thoughts organized.
